On May 27,2007 we floated the Rio Ojo Caliente River from Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs our property. The river level was 150 cfs.( any lower and floating would be hiking). It took us FIVE (5) hours to float this section. I would rate the general river Class as II+ but there are several SIGNIFICANT HAZARDS. Sweepers, Trees, Brush, Fences (15 in this section and some are not easily seen. Also one Diversion Dam. ( USE EXTREME CAUTION BOATER BE AWARE!)
The float was beautiful. We saw lots of Birds, one Coyote very close up and lots of sign of Beaver and their recent activities all along the river.
